The Belief

The story of Thembi Tobie is not evident. Working as a black woman in a white man's world, learning everything herself in her spare time, learning to taste wine, studying wine books, visiting wine domains and attending training, we already know this self-made woman has serious capacities. Her vision goes well beyond selling a brand name. At the time of apartheid it was forbidden for black people to drink wine. That's why Thembi made this step into the wine business; to make a difference. She wants to be an example for other young blacks and a pioneer as a woman. She believed in her dreams and made them come true. Her goal is to produce top quality wines that are accessible and affordable for everyone. Her wines are guaranteed fair trade ... and delicious !

Vriesenhof Vineyards

At Vriesenhof, the art of winemaking is a fascinating journey that begins in the vineyards and ends with the enjoyment that accompanies a raised glass. Follow this journey and you will most certainly pause for reflection in the solitude of the Vriesenhof cellars. Traditional wood maturation methods combine effortlessly with modern fermentation processes. Add to this an ageing process that takes place in a setting disturbed only by the patient ticking of the clock and the artistry of the winemaker at work and you'll soon understand why Vriesenhof consistently delivers wines of true Stellenbosch origin.

Meinert Vineyards

Wine is my means of expression, not just of myself but also such tangible aspects as our sites. As a young man I worked by chance for a few years as a journalist. I think I was searching for an artistic outlet and fortunately found it in winemaking, which began as a fascination with the product. Though I still dream of exploring other artistic endeavours I remain excited by the challenge of trying to make great wines. The quest is a very personal one to share distinctive wines and their stories with our friends and customers. – Martin Meinert
